My advice!

WALT:Think critically about what we read.

Task description: Our task was to do a presentation about giving advice.
I gave advice on whether this person should buy a Garmin watch or a Fit bit charge. Well first I looked at the customer reviews. The reason why I looked there first was so I could see what people that have bought the product think about it.

And second I researched the watch to see what it can do do and stuff like that. Then the last step is that I had to gather all the information and put it into an email to send back telling them my opinion.

20 hour famine reflection!

On the 22nd of May (  Friday ) the year 5,6,7 and 8 Extension participated in the 20 hour famine. We are fundraising by asking people, family and friends if they can sponsor us in the 20 hour famine so the money can go to people in Bangladesh so they can have a bright future, Food in there hands and education for the kids.
We also had a sleep over on Friday. We only could eat one thing and drink two things and they were : Barley sugar, Juice and water!
It was really cool and we did loads more stuff as well! The teams were Green, Red, Yellow and Blue!

What is the 20 hour famine?
The 20 hour famine is when you fundraise for family's and children all over the world just to get them Clean water, food, shelter, education, clothes and lots more stuff that will help them to live a happy and healthy life!

Doing the famine?
We had started the night by playing: Table tennis, Basketball, Karaoke and loads more. Two Ambassadors came to Pt England and talked to us about the people in Bangladesh and how they live and how they do things in Bangladesh!

How I felt when I did it!
I felt really proud of myself because I helped and contributed sponsors to Bangladesh. Thank you to all who participated because you are a hero!

The 40 hour Famine!

Tomorrow Friday the 22nd to Sunday the 24th the 40 hour famine will start. I am participating to help the people in Bangladesh to give them a bright future and to provide food by raising money. Liam, Interview, Nepal!

Liam is a 11 year old boy currently living in New Zealand. Liam is obsessed with games, and likes to do impressions of rockets! And I am going to ask him some questions related to the Nepal earthquake!

If an earthquake had struck your town what would you do? I would try to calm myself find shelter and get as much help as I can,  and try to get the power on so I can play games on my computer!

How do you feel about the earthquake in Nepal! I feel sad for all those people who are suffering from this situation and my love goes to all of the people in Nepal

What would you do to help Nepal in anyway!

I would do a little fundraiser to help! Maybe a sausage sizzle or disco you know!

Auckland-Thursday,30th of April a teacher taught a class of year 6 students from Pt England school about new technology. This is based on the topic this term that is”Tinkering tools and toys” which is technology.

Description Of learning:We got the task to write a lead paragrah for a news report. We had to write about how our teacher Mr Goodwin using a Makey makey kit and we wrote about it! 

Anzac!

1914, April the 25th thousands of men sailed off for world war 1. Today and tomorrow we will be celebrating and remembering the people who fought 100 years ago in world war 1. WE WILL REMEMBER THEM!

Describing my first day at school?

Well In Assembly everyone got given treats and yum stuff and my teacher was riding a hovercraft. My first day was super crazy so, How was your first day at school like?  Let me tell you how this happened.

Class Seven, six, eight had lined up like it was just a normal day going to Assembly, and oh boy were they wrong. As we walked in we could see Teachers and students even our principal cooking and baking yummy stuff being given out like: Mini pancakes, s'mores and many more! When we walked in we knew straight away that this was going to be an exciting Immersion Assembly and a first day back!

Just as every class was in , the immersion Assembly started. Mr Burt gave us a big welcome to Term two and the theme for the term is…”Tinkering tools and toys” so basically just technology. After all the talking it was time for team items. Now lets skip all of the other ones and talk about team four!

Team 4, well they created a movie about a videogame that they created, and let me tell you it was...Hilarious! The voice of the character and the background was cool and fantastic! Now I am really looking foward for this term!

After all the team Items  Mr Barks or as we call him ( Mr maker) told us many ways how he tried to fly. But then he created a hoverboard in the holidays and he said “ He was riding through his neighbors drive way! Since he thought that everybody didn’t believe him he told Mr sommerville as his little guinea pig and he just thought that it  would be funny! So  Mr sommerville sat on the hoverboard and it actually worked but...we thought he was going to fall off the stage but he didn’t which was good.


One thing led to another and the hoverboard explanation was finished and so was Assembly. Everyone was walking out with joy and happiness so excited to see what their teachers have in plan for this term. Thank you for reading my writing! BYE!

The news paper challenge!

W.A.L.T: Write a recount about "The news paper challenge".

When you walk into your literacy class does your teacher say “ Were doing a newspaper challenge? Well  Mr Goodwin gave us the task to build a newspaper tower in eight minutes. Our team thought that it was going to be hard with the things we were using, but we came out coming first. Let me tell you how this happened!

Mr Goodwin told us to separate in groups of five. It looked easy but then it got difficult with the materials we were using. Which were: newspaper , scissors, masking tape and eight minutes on the clock. When that clock started everyone was in the zone.

Our group planned for about the first two minutes of the challenge. So after that little chit chat about the structure and stuff we just anything to be honest. Just scrunch and flatten and roll and all kind of things that we did. We were just taping and taping and we finished in time, but really when you look at it I don’t think we got it all nice and built at least it was standing!

Judging time! We just had a professional judge because he was using his leg to see what the height was! He was judging there and judging here and the results came in! Well actually Mr Goodwin thought it was a tie. So he got a big ruler and measured it. Now finally the proper results came in…… WE WON,like I already told you at the beginning.

It was a cool experience to be apart of. It made us work together as a team and made us friends and the end of the day. Thank you Mr Goodwin for the awesome activity you have givin us!

Mr Goodwin gave us the task to write a recount about "The newspaper Challenge". I will describe this activity as a cool, fun thing to do with your friends. But anyway thanks for reading my writing!

River Talks!

W.A.L.T: Write an introduction about river talks!

River talks was a time where the community gets together and talks about their river. Oamaru creek was filthy and had lots of rubbish, we need to help get it clean. Will you help clean our river?

Mr gave us the task to write an Introduction about the river talk that happened last friday. When we had finished our buddy had to mark our introduction and I got a three.

Methane gas is the gas being produced by large rubbish landfills?

When landfills are left alone the gas leaks into the ground and into the air!

These are two ways of dealing with methane gas buildups!

                      1.Burn it of as waste

                      2.Use it as fuel!

methane gas could power nine thousand homes with electricity!

A  land above a landfill can be reused as a new golf course or new sports ground!

Holiday writing!

W.A.L.T: Write a recount about my holiday!

Inflatable world is a fun place with big boxing gloves and massive bouncy castles and it is for all ages. Isn’t that cool. In the holidays I went with my two cousins, two auntys and my little brother.

So heres what had happened we were just sitting home the other day so bored. Then my aunty said “ Tomorrow lets go to INFLATABLE WORLD!”. Suddenly the room was filled yes or yea or why and many more words. But after a couple of minutes the decision was final we were going!

When we arrived my little brother was running around with excitement saying “ lets go lets go”. So we went inside paid first…. then went and played on the bouncy castles and climbed up the wall of rocks known as a climbing wall. It was a really exciting, fantastic, amazingly totally spectacular day.

Description: This writing is about my holiday hightlight. I picked this as my highlight because I got to spend time with my aunty and cousin that lives in masterton. I had a great time!
